We will have a freeze/frost warning issued tonight. It is predicted that temperatures will fall into the low 30's or below and then we will have several more nights of cold weather.
Please protect your tender/cold sensitive plants tonight as our temps drop.
A list of some of the tender tropical plants you should protect are:
Hibiscus, Gold Mound Duranta, Hawaiian Ti Plants, Crotons, Ruebellini Palms, Lady Palms, Citrus Trees, Arborcolia, and Geraniums.
Remember to never cover your plants with plastic. If you are using bedding sheets or blankets, remove them during the day.
We have several pieces of frost blanket available.
The advantages of frost blanket over sheets and linens are:
1. You can leave the frost blanket in place for a week, possibly two,
in the event of a lengthy cold spell.
2. You can irrigate over it.
3. Our frost blanket is commercial grade and almost
two times the thickness of pre-packaged frost blanket found in the stores.
Our cost is $1.85 per running foot. The roll we cut from is a 15 ft. width.
Measure your planting area to determine what you need. You will be able to cut the blanket into smaller sections with scissors. Plan to have the frost blanket completely cover your plants or pots, touching the ground on all sides.
